winter cocktail

Monday starts my reintroduction period! (Hooray!) I am excited to add back in eggs, chocolate and nightshade vegetables but apart from those things, eating this way hasn't been as tricky as I thought. The ED gurus suggest keeping caffeine and alcohol out of your diet until all foods have been tested. While I think I will be okay on the caffeine front, I've decided to add red wine back into the mix as long as it's not a day that I am actively testing something else. Spirits have to wait until post-gluten phase since so many of them include wheat. That said, thought I would share a throwback to a favorite winter cocktail I was enjoying before my ED journey began. I made these on Thanksgiving and a few times more throughout the holiday season. You could do an alcohol free version with non-alcoholic cider and one of these boozeless spirits for Campari. Perhaps I will try that soon.

one part fresh squeezed blood orange juice
one part hard cider
one part campari
orange rind
