Bachelorette Finale: Playwrights Discuss

(from @jofholm's Instagram)
me: holla

Joshua: yo yo yo. um do you think arie is gonna be a bachelor? or do you think he's over it?

me: I think they would never pick Ari over Sean or previously reported Roberto

Joshua: oh right
  sean

me: Ari's not America's kinda guy - his love for Em burned too deep

Joshua: i forgot
  hahahaha

me: and Sean is just such a big red, muscley doofus that he has Bachelor written all over him

Joshua: so so so true
although i don't know how he's still going to find time to be dave read while he's romancing all those ladies

me: Ya! it will be very diffficult but at least he'll get a good play out of it. Although Bekah Brunstetter already wrote the bachelor play and it was awesome
But enough about playwrights - even if they were contestants - back to Em and Jef

Joshua: i don't know -- i don't see it between the two of them

me: I think you are right that as soon as she talked him into meeting Ricki it was over
But it can't be denied that Em made this decision with her head not with her heart or um, vajayjay

Joshua: clearly.
i think it was her vajayjay that was crying so hard when she had to let arie go

me: She should have at least done it with him in the fantasy suite when she had the chance, now she's always going to be thinking about what it would have been like
BUT I do think she and Jef, even though they don't seem right for eachother at all, might have longevity

Joshua: hahaha yup
but i think that might just come from mormon determination than anything else

me: Well ya, Jef I believe, is a man of his word
And I kinda thought I saw a little 'what have I done' on his face when they were watching that proposal
but he's in it now and he'll stick with it

Joshua: yeah i feel like they had the option of just continuing to date, right?
that's just not the kind of ending america wants

me: right and I think there are $ incentives to get engaged, be engaged at after the final rose and then get married. NOT that I think Jef did it for the money - lets not forget he's a mormon millionaire
Both my sis and my bf, Liana equated this with an arranged marriage where love will grow over time, and I think that could be very true

Joshua: oh that's actually a good analogy
it's like we're in ancient china
they have been selected for good breeding and financial security
  and offspring
  em wants to MULTIPLY

me: yesterday!

Joshua: and who's better suited to that than jef?

me: Also Jef is MOVING to Charlotte so he doesn't uproot Ricki - Ari wouldn't have done that
I mean its a little nuts to me that Jef is doing that since he has a company to run and Em does pretty much nothing

Joshua: yeah but she's obviously gonna wear ALL the pants in that marriage

me: I dont know - he seems so much smarter than she is
I have to say, one of the most interesting Bach finales - Can we talk about what a man Ari was during that break-up

Joshua: RIGHT?

me: That made me like him more

Joshua: when he was like, "i'm not gonna give you the goodbye you want"...

me: it was f'in awesome

Joshua: ...i stodd and cheered
  i also stood

me: more realness than we usually get to see on this show

Joshua: but oh my gosh, watching him make that love potion knowing what was about to happen...
  ...that was torture

me: that was EVIL, ABC, EVIL

Joshua: every single thing he said about them being in love with each other and her parents being his in-laws made me want to climb to the top of something tall and just jump off it

me: And I think he was totally blindsided way more than the guys who just pretend to be blindsided. I mean last week she told him he was the light at the end of the tunnel

Joshua: well yeah
she's gotta take a lot of the blame for that

me: I think you are right and it all came down to Jef talking her into meeting Ricki

Joshua: it totally did

me: I think after that she was done and was like, I dont wanna have to make a hard decision - this guy is great with my kid, he'll be a good father - im done, lets get married

Joshua: exactly...
  which i guess is respectable
that studio audience was so much more into jef than arie

me: Another reason I dont think Arie will be the Bach.

Joshua: they LOVED sean in the men tell all, tho

me: I think she made the right choice, even tho I think her feelings are stronger for Arie
Oh my god, I do not get the Sean thing - but he's America's Dream guy I guess - weird

Joshua: yeah that's exactly it -- he's a ken doll

me: boring and plastic

Joshua: if he becomes the bachelor, his season will be PAINFUL to watch

me: Ugh, Asexual Bachelor
  super weird

Joshua: hahaha right?

me: lets hope they stick with Roberto

Joshua: every single girl will be asking in her confessional "i just don't know if we're connecting"

me: Its so unusual to have really liked both the guys in the final two this season. On Sean's season it will be like -
"He never kisses me with his mouth open and he keeps pranking me"

Joshua: he's gonna ask the girls if they'll accept the rose and they'll politely decline

me: hahaha

Joshua: there will only be one episode

me: Sean talking to a stuffed animal

Joshua: i still think that was his room
  no one clarified it

me: I THINK IT WAS HIS ROOM TOO!!! back to Em and Jef - he's taking her to Africa to do charity work, and I guarantee you over the course of their relationship she will become a better dresser

Joshua: definitely

me: which is another form of charity work - so good job Jef!

Joshua: yeah now that i'm thinking about it, i think they probably will make it
it'll be an intensely boring yet entirely consistent marriage
which is exactly what i think em wants

me: Ya but not with someone like Sean, consistent and cool
with someone she feels like is better than her
  which Jef is

Joshua: but can also shoot guns

me: Well, Emily might have taught America a good lesson:
GIRLS - pick the guy who is going to be a good husband and father, wont cheat on you, has great style and cares about the world at large. Someday, you'll forget about that guy who pinned you against the wall in Prague - but you can still think about it when you masturbate

Joshua: HAHAHAHAHAHA
can that be a lesson for gay men too? because...
yeah, this convo has actually put me on team jef

me: Yes, It's a lesson for EVERYONE! Thanks Bachelorette!

Joshua: it seems like he knows what it means to have to go after a girl
which is a skill some of them (sean) have never had to practice
so i think if he's the bachelor it will just reinforce the idea that he's naturally impressive and that women will just come to him and that he doesn't have to do any work

me: Ugh, here's hoping these recaps aren't about Sean next season - but maybe then we can find a way to watch in the same place

Joshua: we'll need to hold each other and cry -- so yes

me: Can't wait!
