wedding guest style at 38 weeks preg...

This weekend we went to Philly for Adam's brother Patrick's wedding. Here he is with his wife (!) and our new sister-in-law Carly who is a true gem. They both looked amazing and it's always fun to be at a wedding where the couple is so perfectly suited to one another.

I have been telling the baby for months that he just needed to stay inside until after this big event. He is a good listener and stayed put. Going to a wedding at 38 weeks preg means everyone comments on how preg you are. It's unavoidable. It also means getting dressed is a challenge as I couldn't wear the Asos overalls Kara gave me that I usually wear every day. (Don't worry - I did wear them the day of the wedding to get my hair done and to the post wedding brunch.)

The rehearsal dinner was at a bowling alley and since the weather just turned Adam reminded me of this oversized Alexander Wang sweater dress I have that I had forgotten about in my piles of pre-preg winter clothes. He thought might still fit me and hooray, it did! But whoa Nelly - a pregnant belly is an itchy belly and I think the wool on skin was perhaps not the best combo. I was scratching at it all night (as you can see in photo two).

For the wedding itself I wore an Electric Feathers sack I paid way too much money for at a sample sale two years ago. I tried to wear this dress to a wedding last summer to which Adam said - "if you wear that, everyone will think you're pregnant". Since at that time we were trying to get pregnant with no luck instead I wore a very tight Sandro dress I found at Tokio 7. But since this time I actually am HUGELY PREGNANT - out came the sack! Adam looked adorable as always. His speech at the reception made me cry buckets of tears and though this was the first wedding I have ever attended where I didn't really feel like dancing, I made up for it by eating three pieces of carrot wedding cake.
