scene from which I write this - my carrel at the Brooklyn Writer's Space
1. Go to my writer's space. I never get as much done at home as I do here. Probably for that exact reason, going to the space has become the equivalent of going to yoga is, I am always glad once I am there but it's so much easier to stay in bed (or in my bed office).
2. Pack lunch. If I have to leave the writer's space to feed myself, then I lose my work ethic, so packing a lunch is key. It also forces me to eat food in the fridge that might otherwise go bad on a week (like this one) where I'll be out every night. Today I put chickpeas and tuna over greens, added some olives and drizzled the whole thing in fance balsamic, olive oil, salt + pepper.
3. Set goals with varying levels of commitment. By the end of this week I will definitely hand in the revised draft of my screenplay, hopefully make progress on the musical and maybe make notes on my new film idea. These are my goals this week, there, I've set them! (With varying projects and levels of importance you can always procrastinate by working on a less pressing deadline - it's still putting off the task at hand, but at least making progress on another while you do so.)
4. If it's just not happening and I am reading blogs, looking at pinterest or generally not doing anything useful, I will close my computer and read. Because I always get back to work faster when I am reading something inspiring that kick starts my brain, than when I am mindlessly clicking through sweaters.
Alright guys, here goes...
