is love a fancy or a feeling?

I'm contemplating writing a screenplay of an updated SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. I love the book  and  Emma Thompson's film adaptation of it so much that I'm not sure I want to touch the story. My mom said it wouldn't have to be a direct modern adaptation but more a story of two sisters and the different ways they navigate love.
